Green Roots Organic is a growing, locally owned and operated lawn care company, based in South Orange, NJ. We have been in business for 5 years and have clients across Essex, Union, and Morris Counties. Our mission is to offer safer, effective lawn care programs and to provide an alternative to conventional fertilization programs. We are very passionate about creating environmentally-friendly green lawns. We take pride in our knowledge of soil nutrition to ensure our customers have healthy and thriving lawns. Currently, we are seeking a Lawn Care Applicator who is career-minded, detail-oriented and takes pride in a job well done. The ideal candidate will be independently driven, enjoys learning new things, is a lover of the outdoors, and is self-motivated. In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for residential customers, ensuring professional and compassionate customer service. The candidate will be in the field daily during the season, ensuring lawns are performing well and representing our commitment to green and safer lawns. While prior experience is useful, it is not required. Training will be provided.
This is a seasonal position starting in March and lasting through December, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. Extra hours may be available and offered during the season. The position will mainly involve applying nutrients to residential lawns. During the months of September and part of October, the applicator will also aerate and seed some properties as an important part of our fall season lawn revival and seeding efforts. We are known for our commitment to reviving lawns during the fall season.

Primary Responsibilities for a Lawn Care Applicator Technician
● Apply cutting-edge, organic-based fertilizers to residential lawns using both liquid and granular products.● Apply weed control treatments when and if needed.● Maintain accurate record-keeping on paper and electronically.● Work closely with the owner and participate in ongoing training sessions during the season.● Monitor and assess the conditions of residential lawns and provide recommendations to improve performance.● Maintain equipment efficiency and make minor fixes and adjustments when and if needed.● Assist team in managing the warehouse and storage needs of the business.● Use hand tools, small equipment, and heavy machines as needed.
Essential Requirements:
● Valid NJ Driver’s License● Passionate, committed, and career-oriented● Loves the outdoors, enjoys physical labor and enjoys getting “dirty”● Mature, reliable, and dependable● Positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment● Ability to change directions at a moment’s notice● Ability to work in various weather conditions● All prior work experience will be reviewed, evaluated, and considered.● The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and comfortable working with equipment.
